PLAY YOUR PASSION: YAMAHA COVER CONTEST

Contest Duration: January 10 – February 10, 2025

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Competition is open to Filipino performers residing in the Philippines at least 18 years of age. Participants must provide proof of age and residency (e.g., government ID) to be eligible. Open to Metro Manila residents only.
  • Contest is open to all except for relatives of Yamaha Music Philippines Inc. employees up to the third degree. This prohibition applies to spouses, legal partners, parents, uncles/aunts, siblings, nephews/nieces, children, grandparents, grandchildren, and any other individuals related by blood or marriage within the third degree of consanguinity or affinity to Yamaha Music Philippines Inc.
  • Participants must be following Yamaha Music Philippines on Facebook and Instagram. Entries must be performed by a solo performer. No group or duo entries are allowed.
  • Participants/winners must be willing to travel to Yamaha Music Uptown Mall if they win to claim their prizes. Travel costs and accommodation will not be covered by the organizers.

COVER AND ENTRY RULES:

  • Record a cover of any song (with or without vocals) using a Yamaha musical instrument (owned or borrowed).
  • Keep your video under 90 seconds
  • Backing track is accepted
  • Participants are encouraged to express their individuality and creativity with any genre.
  • Participants are NOT allowed to record their video and audio separately.
  • All sounds coming from the Yamaha musical instrument must be created live during the performance

SUBMISSION PROCESS:

  • Follow Yamaha Music Philippines on Facebook and Instagram
  • Participants must register via the Official Entry Form
    • Name
    • Address
    • Email address
    • Contact number
    • Instrument used
    • Social media link to entry
  • Entries must be uploaded and posted on either on Facebook, Instagram and set to Public. Posts must contain the following hashtags:
    • #YamahaMusic
    • #YamahaMusicPhilippines
    • #MakeWaves
    • #PlayYourPassion
  • Participants must submit their entries between January 10 – February 10, 2025. Deadline of submission is on February 10, 2025 at 11:59pm.
  • Participants are only allowed to submit one (1) entry each.
  • Winning entry can only win once.

DETERMINATION OF WINNERS:

  • Winners will be selected on February 13, 2025, at Yamaha Music Philippines Inc.’s office, 3F-A A/O United Life Building, 837 A. Arnaiz Ave., Makati City, 6PM onwards
  • Announcements made on February 14, 2025, via social media
  • Official announcements and communications will be received only from the following official accounts:
  • Winners must redeem their prizes 60 days after announcement of winners/receipt of email at Yamaha Music Store, Uptown Mall, BGC
  • Winners will be asked to show a valid ID, show the message by Yamaha Music Philippines Inc. that they won, and sign an acknowledgement receipt

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

Creativity and Musicality (40%) Measures the originality of the arrangement, musical interpretation, and how well the piece flows.
Skill and Performance (40%) Assesses the technical skill displayed, including accuracy, timing, and emotional expression.
Visual Presentation and Video Quality (20%) Evaluates the overall appeal of the video, including clarity, framing, and effort in presentation.

  • 2nd Prize – Yamaha DD-75 Digital drum kit (with adapter)
  • 3rd Prize – Yamaha HS3 Speakers (pair)
  • 4th to 10th Prize – TW-E5B Wireless earbuds
